Changes Afoot for Sweethaven after 43 Years

A well-established pillar of the Reigate and Surrey business community for over 43 years; Sweethaven Computers this year looks to make an exciting transition that moves away from retail to focus fully on its managed IT service division.

The move comes following over a decade of organic growth in the provision of IT support to schools and businesses and, most recently, close collaboration with the Department for Education for nationwide platform provisioning of digital platforms for remote teaching and learning. The decisions represent a significant shift after 43 years of retailing. Founded in 1977, Sweethaven began life as a newsagent, progressing to a chain of 3 computer departments, before transitioning the business to dedicated IT retail in 2006 and subsequently introducing business and education support.

Over the last four decades, the company has become renowned as the one-stop shop for the full range of technology solutions; from home tech to enterprise IT networks and support.

Paul Rambridge, Founder, says: “I’m very proud of our company and the journey we have travelled in over 43 years of serving the local community as well as business and education. Whilst incredibly sad to be leaving retailing after 43 years, this has not been the mainstay of our trade for a considerable time as Managed IT Services for Education and Business has continued to grow.

The business started as a family business in 1977 and has continued to be so with Melissa Rambridge now leading the superb management team. In keeping with that personal feel, it is with pleasure that we have worked with Darren who has been with the company for many years to allow him to look after retailing under his new company DLG.”

Melissa Rambridge, the incoming CEO, says:

“I am so excited to be a part of Sweethaven’s future, especially with such a fantastic team at the helm. The move to focus on fully managed services represents an exciting new chapter and will enable us to further dedicate ourselves to delivering the high standard of customer service to business and education that we have become renowned for in the Surrey community over the last 4 decades.

The true passion and care that runs at the heart of a family-run business is what I believe truly makes us special as a Team and my primary goal is to ensure we continue to channel this into each and every one of our customer relationships as we move forward. Sweethaven Computers Ltd will continue to focus its growth and success on delivering managed IT services for businesses and schools, with the personal touch that the third-generation family-run business has become so well known for. Building works for Sweethaven’s new offices are planned to commence in July and are anticipated to be ready by September.”
