Our Cyber Security Event...
On Thursday 30th January 2020, Sweethaven Business Services teamed up with 4D Data Centres and KnowBe4 to host a Cyber Security Workshop & Networking Event at the Hop Stop in Reigate.
Packed with local and not-so-local businesses and some fantastic free cybersecurity advice, the afternoon proved a thoroughly enjoyable and insightful event for all. Speakers & topics covered on the day included:
Jack Bedell-Pearce, CEO, 4D Data Centres Ltd gave us an overview of the Cyber Security Landscape including what we can expect in 2020. (Not forgetting his fantastic magic trick too!)
Jack discussed in further detail current cyber security threats and how damaging they can be. He specifically mentioned DDoS, Phishing and Social Engineering. By providing some real life examples, Jack demonstrated that these attacks can happen to anyone. Jack's predictions for 2020 included Off-the-shelf attacks, 5F, IoT, DDos and The Rise of AI.
Martin Byrne, Head of Technical Development , Sweethaven Business Services then followed up by discussing the importance, developments and requirements of email & cloud security. Furthermore, with the rise of phishing attacks, Martin provided some insight on what businesses can be doing to minimise the dangers posed by these and enhance internal team knowledge.
Martin detailed the importance of protecting your business from the many cyber threats out there. Emails can be extremely vulnerable and email security should be of top priority for businesses. Minimising the dangers posed by cyber threats is a team effort and Martin explained how everyone in a company can work together to not only protect the company but also themselves.
Ollie Pech, Channel MSP Manager, KnowBe4 provided us with some excellent tips for training staff to maximise security and ultimately mitigate risk from within, improving your Cyber Security.
Ollie followed up showing how training your staff can be easily done for effective results. "Your employees are your last line of defense". Phishing training can be done easily and provide excellent results. Ollie also highlighted the importance of testing your employees on a regular basis with up-to-date information given to them. Ollie showed how companies can run a simulated phishing email test internally to test your staff. If you're interested in finding out more and running one of these tests at your company, please do get in touch with the Sweethaven team.Want to find out more on any of the above?
